Hi! My name is Christy Holtz and this is my 12th year
teaching Preschool at Jefferson School. As a preschool teacher I have the
pleasure of observing “ah ha” moments on a daily basis as the children conquer
new skills! Through play, children are able to socialize, explore and
learn about the world around them. One of the most valuable skills a
preschool-age child can acquire is independence. As children become more
independent, their confidence grows. I also realize that children are
unique, experiencing the world around them at their own individual pace.
My Education
In
2003, I graduated with a Bachelor’s from Jane Addams College of Social Work,
University of Illinois at Chicago. In 2007, I graduated with a Master’s
in Early Childhood Education from Northern Illinois University. While
teaching at Jefferson, I returned to Northern Illinois University and obtained
my Master’s in Educational Administration. Most recently I received my
English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement from National Louis
University. I’m dedicated to being a lifelong learner and love to
learn. As a preschool teacher, I strive for each of my students to love
school and learning. After all, preschool marks the beginning of each of
my student’s educational career.
My Interests
When
I’m not at Jefferson, I love spending time with my family. My husband and I have two sons and two boxers.
As a family, we love to spend time outside.
Some of the activities we enjoy are fishing, boating and going to the
zoo and of course rooting on the Chicago Cubs! GO CUBS GO!
